Abstract

Background: Agricultural insurance plays a critical role in mitigating risks associated with climate change and ensuring food security. However, disparities in legal frameworks affect its implementation and accessibility.
Objective: This study explores the relationship between agricultural insurance law and food security in China and Ethiopia. It seeks to identify legal and policy interventions to enhance agricultural resilience.
Methodology: Using a comparative approach, the research examines agricultural insurance regulations, subsidy programs, and enforcement mechanisms in both countries. Interviews with farmers and policymakers provide additional insights.
Findings: China’s robust legal frameworks and government subsidies have increased agricultural insurance uptake, contributing to food security. Ethiopia faces challenges due to limited awareness and regulatory gaps. Collaborative public-private initiatives and legal reforms are recommended to improve agricultural insurance penetration in Ethiopia.
