Abstract
Data privacy and protection are critical issues in today's digital world, where personal data is collected, stored, and shared in unprecedented volumes. The collection and use of personal data by organizations and governments have raised concerns about privacy infringement and misuse of data. This has led to the development of national and international regulations to protect individuals' data and ensure that it is used appropriately. National laws governing data privacy and protection vary from country to country. However, most countries have established laws covering data collection, processing, storage, and transfer, as well as the rights of data subjects. These laws aim to provide individuals with control over their personal data and ensure that organizations and governments are accountable for their handling of such data. At the international level, agreements and frameworks have been established to promote cooperation and consistency in data privacy and protection practices across borders. The General Data Protection Regulation in the European Union sets out rules for the processing of personal data and gives individuals greater control over their data. Including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Privacy Framework and the Council of Europe's Convention for the Protection of Individuals about Automatic Processing of Personal Data. The development of national and international laws and frameworks is crucial to protecting individuals' privacy rights and ensuring that organizations and governments are held accountable for their handling of personal data. With the growing use of technology and the internet, the importance of data privacy and protection will continue to grow. As such, there is a need for ongoing efforts to develop and implement effective measures to safeguard personal data and ensure that it is used appropriately. The fourth industrial revolution's digital advancements compelled governments and international organisations to address this problem and establish a legal framework for data processing.
