Abstract
Background: The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into insurance operations has revolutionized risk assessment and claims processing. However, regulatory frameworks in Japan and France face challenges in keeping pace with AI-driven innovations.
Objective: This article examines the regulatory approaches to AI in the insurance sectors of Japan and France, focusing on issues like algorithmic transparency, consumer protection, and data privacy.
Methodology: The study combines doctrinal analysis of AI-related insurance laws with empirical data from industry reports and expert interviews. Comparative case studies of AI applications in insurance illustrate their regulatory implications.
Findings: Japan’s emphasis on innovation-friendly policies fosters rapid AI adoption but raises concerns about data misuse. France’s stringent data privacy laws ensure consumer protection but slow down technological advancements. A balanced approach prioritizing transparency and innovation could optimize the benefits of AI in insurance.
