Abstract

The social media usage in business has gained major significance and is widely utilized to encourage knowledge and skill sharing, uploading work-related content, and staff collaboration. Social media's explosive growth and widespread usage have transformed communication in people's lives, and even more so after Covid-19. This research studies how various social media platforms affect communication effectiveness, employee productivity and teamwork, and any differences across gender, age, industry, and tenure groups. The findings from this study show that in the Indian workplace, after the Covid-19 pandemic, whether it is in the Private, Public or Government sectors, social media has been adopted as the primary mode of communication for workplace communication and discussions. This research indicates that WhatsApp is the most efficient social media platform for communication for official purposes and has the highest frequency of usage in a day. An unexpected but encouraging finding from this study was that social media's impact on employees' collaboration did not significantly differ by age group. Another interesting finding was that employees above 20 years work experience uses social media more for work purposes.
